Since 1896, Lodge Sir John Lavarack has been a cornerstone of Scottish Freemasonry in Queensland, upholding the timeless values of brotherhood, charity, and personal growth.
Designated No. 842 S.C., our lodge was consecrated on August 21st, 1896 at the Masonic Hall on Alice Street, Brisbane by the Grand Lodge of Scotland. We played a pivotal role in forming the original Grand Lodge of Queensland in 1904.
Throughout our history, we've welcomed influential individuals from commerce, politics, academia, banking, law, engineering, and the military, including a Prime Minister of Australia and two Governors of Queensland.
We proudly maintain authentic Scottish Masonic rituals and ceremonies, preserving the rich heritage passed down through generations while welcoming new members to experience these timeless traditions.

Lodge Sir John Lavarack was established on August 21st, 1896, designated No. 842 S.C. The consecration ceremony took place at the Masonic Hall on Alice Street, Brisbane, officiated by the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
Our lodge played a pivotal role in the formation of the original Grand Lodge of Queensland, cementing our place in Queensland Masonic history and helping to unite Freemasonry across the state.
The United Grand Lodge of Queensland was formed, bringing together 281 lodges across Queensland. Our lodge became part of this unified Masonic structure while maintaining our Scottish traditions.
